Advice For First Time Renters

Renting your first apartment can be one of the most exciting times in your life, but often an intimidating experience as well. Luckily, we’ve come up with a few simple tips to get you through your first big move.

1. Know Your Lease
Every lease is different. Spend some time to read through yours carefully in order to get familiar with your apartment rules, what utilities you may be responsible for, and any other details that may have otherwise been left unnoticed. Don’t be afraid to ask your leasing agent any and all questions you may have.

2. Make A Game Plan
What day and time can you move into your apartment? Who will be helping you move your furniture? Do you need to rent a moving truck? These are all things to consider when preparing for a big move, and should be planned out at least a few weeks in advance.

As a first-time renter, consider moving into an apartment community that offers move-in ready furnished units, such as The Courtyards in Gainesville, Florida.

3. Check Your Surroundings
Upon move-in day, be sure to look around your new home for anything that needs to be brought to your property manager’s attention, like initial maintenance requests. Double check to make you have received all of your keys, parking passes, etc.
