4 Ways To De-Stress During Finals Week

Finals Week is filled with copious amounts of cramming and coffee, and maybe even some crying. It’s a stressful time and we want to help.

Although we can’t, say, detail the rise of industrial capitalism for you in 400 words or less, we can offer some tips for chilling out.

In addition to deep, cleansing breaths, here are four ways to de-stress:

Sweat Exercise is a proven stress reliever, so get active. And if you’re lucky enough to have a 24-hour gym at your apartment community, like the one at Reserve on West 31st in Lawrence, Kansas, working out is that much easier.

Run, lift weights, do yoga— the workout doesn’t matter. Physical activity increases the production of endorphins aka your brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters.

Swim Swimming is a great way to exercise without feeling sweaty. Plus, water can have a calming effect.

Game Games are a handy outlet for stress simply because they force you to think of something other than whatever you’re anxious about. For a list of online games that won’t end up becoming full-blown addictions (fingers crossed), click HERE.

Watch Sometimes zoning out is the only way to deal (or not deal?), and there’s no better place to do that than in front of a TV. Just make sure to do TV time in a communal media room. That way you don’t get too comfortable and decide a “Breaking Bad” marathon is in order.
