The Cherry Blossom Pop-Up Bar

Pop-up bars are a phenomenon that has taken over DC in recent years.  We’ve seen iterations dedicated to everything from Game of Thrones to the Super Mario Bros, but a seasonal favorite has to be the cherry blossom-centric takeover, now returning for its second year.  Washington DC’s approximately 3,000 cherry trees were gifted to the nation’s capital by Tokyo Mayor Yukio Ozaki in 1912 and continue to attract visitors each year hoping to catch them in peak bloom.  Appropriately, the decor and fare within the pop-up bar celebrate Japanese culture in addition to the gorgeous pink blooms we look forward to each year. Expect origami, mini zen gardens, paper lanterns, Japanese whisky, sake, and themed cocktails…even a Godzilla themed room.  Be sure to fully charge your phone before hopping in line…waiting your turn could take a while but the photo-ops will be so worth it!
