DC’s Most Instagrammable Desserts Of The Summer

DC's Most Instagrammable Desserts Of The Summer

It goes without saying that creative food and drink photos have taken over many of our Instagram feeds, and for good reason. In addition to these pictures being enjoyable to look at, the trend has become a great resource for finding the latest and greatest restaurant or bar to try out. Desert Grams are beginning to take over as well – there is nothing better than a sweet treat to brighten up your feed. There are countless places throughout D.C. where you can take the ultimate dessert picture to post, and then enjoy the dessert you put hard work into photographing.

Ready…Set…SHOOT!

________

Icy Code Ice Cream Rolls

IcyCode is our favorite spot in D.C. for rolled ice cream. Rolled Ice Cream, an authentic Thai dessert, is a new trend that we can’t get enough of. Watching the rolled ice cream being made is an experience in itself, and eating it is even better! Icy Code serves some of the most unique flavors and toppings, giving you the opportunity for the perfect Instagram post.

Momofuku Milk Bar

Momofuku’s Milk Bar is home to the ultimate soft serve – cereal milk soft serve, made with milk, cornflakes, brown sugar, and salt. With the delicious taste of milk at the bottom of a cereal bowl, this soft serve is our absolute favorite. Milk Bar also serves ‘cake truffles’, which are bite size cake balls that are almost too good to eat. Essentially every dessert at Milk Bar is worth posting on Instagram, but the cake truffles and cereal milk soft serve really take the cake.

The Salt Line

The Salt Line, a relative new-comer to the DC dining scene, has already earned a ton of attention for both their delicious, beautiful food and drinks and the New England-themed, totally photo-worthy restaurant interior.  One of the most photographed menu items thus far is the Fluffernutter milkshake.  This decadent, over-the-top dessert comes topped with a cake doughnut,  marshmallow, peanuts, and saltwater taffy.  Seriously.

Triple Craft

If you didn’t get your full milkshake fix at The Salt Line, head across the river to Alexandria to another new-comer, Triple Craft.  This burger and shake joint strives to create over-the-top indulgences for their customers to enjoy while overlooking the Potomac River and DC Skyline.  Go for the “simple” milkshake for a classic, the “craft” shake option for the serious Insta-envy, and “spiked” for a little something extra in that shake.

Ladurée

Macarons have been on trend in the dessert and food photography worlds for some time now, but all (ok, a lot of) DC rejoiced when famed confectioner Ladurée opened not one but TWO shops here in 2017.  Macarons are the main draw, but there is so much to love (and photograph) here.  From the shop’s interior to the packaging and everything in between, you can go ahead and warn your friends that you’re about to take over their Insta feed.
