Get Away: Indiana Weekend Trips

A weekend trip is a great way to relax and enjoy some new scenery, without burning through money or vacation days.

Luckily, Indiana has several unique destinations that promise plenty of indoor and outdoor fun— perfect for residents at The Lodge on the Trail in West Lafayette and The Haven in Muncie.

These are four of our faves:

The Horseshoe Southern Indiana
Home to the largest riverboat in the United States, this casino resort in Elizabeth, Indiana has a full-service spa, an indoor pool and hot tub, an 18-hole golf course, seven restaurants, a bar & lounge and, of course, table games and slot machines. Room rates can be as low as $56 per night.

Madison, Indiana
The city’s picturesque historic district is tucked amid limestone bluffs on the banks of the Ohio River in southern Indiana, and its 130 blocks perfectly embody pre World War II small town America. Expect hilly streets, grand homes, and touring riverboats. You can also visit nearby Clifty Falls State Park.

Nashville, Indiana
Many consider this quaint artists’ colony in the blue hills of Brown County, Indiana to be a great romantic getaway. But the area is also ideal for outdoorsy types who enjoy canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, and hiking.

French Lick Resort
This 3,000-acre resort complex marries history and luxury with two hotels that date back to the early 1900s. Visitors can participate in a variety of recreational activities, from biking to bowling, take carriage rides, and tour local landmarks.
