While fireplaces are standout features in any home, they tend to look best with something hanging above them. And finding the right artwork is only half the battle.
The other half?
Properly displaying that artwork. Get it right with these helpful hints.
- The artwork you’re hanging (single pieces and groupings) should be at least ⅔ of the width of the fireplace.
- Hang artwork four to 12 inches above the mantel. If the mantel is four feet or higher, hang the art four to six inches above it.
- If the artwork is taller than three feet, lean it on the mantel for a casual look (a good option for renters).
- Hang artwork farther from the mantel to add height to a room and give you space to display prized possessions beneath.
